This effect can be observed in the successes of cognitive dissonance marketing ploys like "smoking cigarettes will make you look sexy," or "buying a new car will save you money." There is something in the human psyche that wants to believe the outrageous – and the more outrageous, it seems, the more believable. The effect is most obvious, perhaps, in the ludicrous beliefs held by liberals. A few examples follow.
Carbon Dioxide is causing global warming. The earth is continuously radiating infra red. When the sun goes down, the earth's infra red radiation is absorbed by water vapor, which comprises 2% of our atmosphere, and is re-radiated to keep the earth's surface warm through the night. In arid places, such as the Gobi and Sahara deserts, when the sun goes down the temperature quickly drops to below freezing because there is no water vapor to absorb and re-radiate the earth's IR. If 0.4% Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere had any effect on the surface temperature of the earth, it would be causing the nighttime temperatures on the Gobi and Sahara deserts to rise. They are not. Add to that the fact that the polar ice caps have grown by fifty percent over the last two years while Europe, Canada, and the United States have been experiencing the harshest winters since the last solar cooling cycle in the 1970s, and to believe that Carbon Dioxide – or anything else – could be heating our obviously cooling planet would be absurd. And yet, credo quia absurdum est.
Hair spray destroys Ozone. Ozone is O(3), an ion of oxygen created when the energy of the electrons in the outer shell of an oxygen atom is raised to "f" level by sunlight or an electrical discharge, causing the normally diatomic oxygen molecule to combine with a third oxygen atom. You can smell ozone in a power plant from the minute arcing of the brushes on the coummutators of the generators. But ozone is unstable and it dissipates quickly. When the energy level of the outer electrons drops back to "s" level, the oxygen molecule reverts to its normal O(2) structure. When the sun goes down, the ozone layer disappears, to be reinvented at sunrise. If anything were to destroy ozone ions in the ozone layer, the energy of solar radiation would immediately reionize them. Thus, to believe that freon – or anything else – is going to have any effect on the ozone in our ionosphere is absurd. And yet, credo quia absurdum est.
Barack Obama is not a Communist. Barack Obama's Mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was raised a Communist by her Communist parents, Madelyn and Stanley Dunham. Obama's alleged father, Barack Obama Sr., was a Communist. His grandparents who raised him in Hawaii were, as pereviously noted, Communists. His biological father, Frank Mashall Davis, who mentored the young Obama in Hawaii, was a member of the American Communist Party and an active rabble rouser. Obama's homosexual lover at Occidental College, Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, was a Communist. Both were members of the Occidental Marxist-Socialist Club. Obama's Chicago mentors, William Ayers and Bernadine Dorn, were and are rabid Communists. He has surrounded himself in his Presidency with Communist advisors and operatives. To suggest that, after 52 years of constant exposure to and indoctrination in Communism, Barack Husein Obama could possibly have emerged as anything other than a Communist would be absurd. And yet, credo quia absurdum est.
