Oath Keepers is an organization of active police and military personnel who vow to honor their oath to "uphold and defend the Constitution" and to disobey any orders counter to the precepts of the Constitution. I don't know how many of those 8,500 Connecticut police officers are Oath Keepers, but the first of the ten pledges an Oath Keeper takes is" I will not obey orders to disarm the American people."
One more thing to consider: those 350,000 armed militiamen represent a State population of 3,600,000 – roughly 1 % of the population of the United States. So the Connecticut militiamen are backed up by a national militia of about 35 million. The total number of troops in the United States Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force is 1.5 million – and a lot of them are Oath Keepers!.
On Friday, referring to the situation in Clark County Nevada, Harry Reid, on Nevada TV station KSNV, told What's Your Point? hosts Jeff Gillan and Amy Tarkanian (and all of America ) that “If there ever was an example of people who were domestic violent terrorist wannabes, these are the guys, and I think that we should call it that way. We have a situation that is really untoward.”
U.S. Senator for Nevada Dean Heller, who was also a guest on the show, responded with, “What Senator Reid may call domestic terrorists, I call patriots. We have a very different view on this.”
Reid's retort was, “These people think they’re patriots, and they’re not. If they’re patriots, we’re in big trouble.”
You're right, Harry! We are patriots, and you are in big trouble.
