In 1959, at the age of twenty, Reid married his high school sweetheart Landra Gould. The couple have four sons and one daughter. Both Harry and Landra joined the Mormon Church while Harry was in college.
After high school, Reid attended Utah State University, where he graduated with a major in history and political science. From there, he went on to earn his J.D. at George Washington University Law School in Washington DC.
After law school, Reid returned to Nevada, where he was Henderson City Attorney until 1968 when he won a seat on the Nevada Assembly. He was Lieutenant Governor from 1971 to 1974, Chairman the Nevada Gaming Commission from 1977 to 1981, U.S. Congressman from Nevada's 1st District from 1983 to 1987, and U.S. Senator from Nevada from 1987 to the present.
In 2007, Harry Reid became Majority Leader of the U.S. Senate, and since that time he has exhibited the corrosive effects of the doubly corrupting influences of prestige and power.
I do not believe Harry Reid is an evil man. But he is a Democrat, which means he is not a terribly intelligent man – as evidenced by his doubling down instead of hunkering down after the Bias-Free Media exposed his complicity in the attempted Cliven Bundy land grab. Furthermore, he has spent the last thirty years of his life living and "working" in Washington DC, which means he has become thoroughly infected with the religion of Fascism.
Harry Reid believes deeply in the Mormon principle of service to one's neighbor, and he has translated that belief into what the Democratic party touts as – and Harry naively believes to be – the Democrat's outreach to the poor and oppressed. And he has allowed that dedication to lead him into the delusion that the government is the solution to all our problems.
I have no doubt that, as a confirmed Fascist, Harry Reid has thoroughly convinced himself that whatever he plans to do with Cliven Bundy's land is in the best interests of the people of Nevada. I'm also sure that, as a Fascist, he considers Cliven Bundy's stubbornness in wanting to hold onto his own land to be a "crime against the people."
How else can you explain a U.S. Senator calling American citizens "terrorists" for protecting Cliven Bundy's Constitutional rights from government terrorism? That's just the way Fascists think.
But in the final analysis, Harry Reid is not the problem – he's only a symptom of the problem. The problem is rampant Fascism in Washington. Fascism has been creeping into the American government for a long time – at least since Lyndon Johnson. But Barack Obama has been so ineptly blatant about it that it's horrors have become glaringly obvious to all but the most stolidly Democrat Americans. If we will seize this opportunity President Obama has inadvertently given us and kill the beast now, Obama may just turn out to be the most important President we have had since Ronald Reagan.
