The monster who was responsible for this atrocity , 23 year old career criminal Clayton Lockett, was tried and convicted of first-degree burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, robbery by force, three counts of forcible oral sodomy, four counts of first-degree rape, and first-degree murder. In 2000, he was sentenced by a jury of his pers to death by lethal injection.
Predictably, the bleeding heart liberals came crawling out of the woodwork to declare this a prime example of the inhumanity of the death penalty. Also predictably, they were joined by the President of the United States who, again predictably, decried the "racial injustice" of the death penalty.
I can only assume that the President was referring to the fact that, while blacks commit 87.5% of the murders in the U.S., only 34% of those executed are black.
Since, in light of the above statistic, the death penalty is clearly not "racially motivated," what other arguments against it do the champions of rapist-murderers have to offer? The argument that it is "cruel and unusual punishment" seems to ring hollow when one considers the punishment meted out to Stephanie Nieman. And Stephanie Nieman didn’t do anything to deserve such punishment.
The argument that taking a human life violates our own humanity as caring, empathetic human beings also sounds phony coming from a segment of the population that sanctions the murder of 57 million unborn human beings. And the argument that killing Clayton Lockett was not a deterrent to others, even if it were true, would be immaterial. It was a deterrent to Clayton Lockett!
Abolishing the death penalty would be as foolish as voting Democrat. You’d only be empowering the bastards to do it to you again!
