On Wednesday 18 June, Texas Governor Rick Perry, along with Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst and Texas House Speaker Joe Straus authorized the expenditure of 1.3 million dollars a week to combat the immigration problem along the Texas/Mexico border.
Governor Perry told the press, "Texas can not afford to wait for Washington to act on this crisis, and we will not sit idly by while the safety and security of our citizens are threatened. Until the federal government recognizes the danger it's putting our citizens in by its inaction to secure the border, Texas law enforcement must do everything it can to keep our citizens and communities safe."
It's more than likely that Attorney General Eric Holder will sue Governor Perry for usurping the responsibility of the federal government. One could argue, of course, that the federal government has deliberately abdicated that responsibility, but the fact is the federal government never had that responsibility.
Article I section 8 of the Constitution, which defines the limited powers of the federal government, makes no mention of its authority to secure international borders. It is the federal government that has usurped the authority of the States, under the 10th Article of the Bill of Rights, to secure their own borders with other countries. Texas not only has the right to secure their own international border, they have the right to throw the US border patrol out of their State.
Governor Perry has taken a bold move – a move that I hope will be followed by other States. It's time for the second American Revolution. It's time for the States to stand up and stand together and take back their Constitutional rights from the un-Constitutional government in Washington. We have the power to nullify Obamacare in our States and to nullify federal anti-gun laws in our States and to nullify any other federal laws that violate the Constitution.
Yes, Holder will sue, but Holder will be a paper tiger if enough States nullify un-Constitutional incursions of their rights and simply ignore the injunctions of federal courts. Besides, if we can keep Eric Holder busy suing States for taking back their Constitutional rights, he won't have time to dream up schemes for running AK-47s to Mexican drug lords.
Take a look at what we're doing in Texas by going to SDCI Austin, and start up or get behind initiatives in your own State to restore the United States of Washington to the United States of America.
