In 1951, George Jorgensen Jr. of the Bronx New York electrified the United States by becoming the first American to undergo "sex reassignment surgery." "Christine" Jorgensen toured the country lecturing and performing his night club act touting the virtues of sex change.
In 1965, Psychiatrist John Oliven of Columbia University coined the word "transgender" as a motivation for transvestism. In 1979 Christine Jorgensen declared himself to be not a transsexual but a transgender, and within five years the notion of a "transgender" community had taken hold of the American imagination.
Did transgenderism exist before we had a name for it? Undoubtedly. Did putting a name to the disorder encourage its manifestation? Almost certainly. Did bringing the disorder to light result in increased efforts to cure it? Unfortunately not. On the contrary, in 2013 both California and New Jersey enacted legislation making it a crime to treat anyone under 18 with so-called "gay" aversion therapy. The District of Columbia followed suit with a City Council edict in late 2014.
There are those who contend that Joshua Alcorn's suicide did not result from his mental disorder but from people refusing to admit that it is not a mental disorder. But Joshua Alcorn's suicide was not an isolated incident. A 2010 study by the National Center for Transgender Equality and the National "Gay" and Lesbian Task Force found that 41 % of "transgenders" have attempted suicide.
Furthermore, a 2012 brief by the Center for American Progress reported that drug abuse among queers, lesbians, and transgenders is three times that of the general population, and that alcohol abuse is five times greater. In addition, a 2003 study of criminal records found that 43 % of child rapist-murderers and 69 % of serial killers were homosexuals. And this is from a segment that represents only 3.4 % of the total population. So much for sexual orientation disorder not being a mental health problem.
Why then is there such aversion to treating and perhaps eliminating a disorder with potentially disastrous symptoms? Why is the Marxist-Socialist Media (MSM) intent on trying to convince Americans that homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgenders are normal? Could it possibly be to further the advance of homofascism?
Homofascism is a textbook example of crisis creation and exploitation. The federal government has commandeered the homo – bi – trans – sexual agenda by catering to the paranoia symptomatic of the disorder and hyping their imagined experiences of discrimination and unfairness. This gives the government the opportunity and the public support to step in and "address" the alleged problem by further restricting the rights and freedoms of the American People.
This is a classic Reichstag maneuver. Create an artificial problem, then solve it by imposing government control over a segment of the People's rights. We saw this in the failed Fast and Furious attempt to build spurious data purporting to show weapons trade from Arizona to Mexico in order to "fix" the "problem" by imposing restrictions on the American People's Second Amendment rights.
We saw it again in the successful invocation of the non-existent specter of people desperately devoid of medical care in order to create a federal medical bureaucracy that, incidentally, severely curtails the American People's access to decent and affordable health care. And we are seeing it today in the specious portrayal of queers as victims in order to further erode our First Amendment rights of free speech and freedom of religion.
