In the recent CPAC 2016 presidential straw poll, one out of four attendees voted for Rand Paul, and almost as many (21%) chose Scott Walker. Ted Cruz and Ben Carson rounded out the top four with 11% each. Jeb Bush came in fourth with only 8.3%.
This was not a fluke, Mr. Priebus. The writing is on the wall. The People of America are rising up to take back their republic. Fortunately, the Constitution of the United States provides us the means to conduct a peaceful revolution. But make no mistake, what you are witnessing is a revolution. And you, Mr. Priebus, are in a unique position to take advantage of it.
As head of the Republican National Committee, it's your responsibility to position the Republican Party to win elections. And to do that you've got to give the People what they want, not the big donors who are trying to buy our government. Forget the money. If you want to win, concentrate on selling the principles of the Party, because that's what the People are buying now. GOP stands for Guns, Opportunity, and Principle – and the greatest of these is Principle.
Get rid of the RINOs. You're trying to beat the Democrats by playing their game, Mr. Priebus. And every high school football player knows you can't score a touchdown by running interference for the opposing team.
The Tea Party is either going to take back the Republican Party or abandon the Republican Party. Your choice, Mr. Priebus! And if you think you don't need us, look at the results you got running RINOs in 2008 and 2012. For the survival of the Republican Party, please don't make the same mistake in 2016.
We have a saying in Texas: "'First time, you made a mistake. 'Second time, you made the same dang mistake again. 'Third time, I made a mistake."
God bless Texas and God bless the United States of America.
