We don't need – and certainly don't want – a "champion" to instigate illusions of injustices, Hillary. We want a unifier. America doesn't need more Omamanesque artificial demarcations of Americans. We need a President and a Congress that recognizes and supports the strength of a system that binds such a disparate gaggle of widely divergent groups together into a nation.
There is no Black America and White America. There is no atheist America and Christian America. And there is no rich America and poor America. There is only America – made up of Blacks and Whites and Yellows and Reds, made up of Jews and Catholics and Baptists and Mormons and atheists, and made up of entrepreneurs and doctors and workers and loafers and lawyers and politicians.
We are a nation encompassing Germans and Irish and Greeks and Italians and Vietnamese and Cubans, a nation that embraces women and men and gender-identification-deficients equally, a nation that perceives differences as a strength, not a weakness.
We are a nation that celebrates diversity and condemns divisiveness. We are a nation bound together more tightly by the realization that the central tenet of America – equality for all – continues to inspire and unite the most disparate population of any nation in the history of human civilization.
No other nation on earth could support the diversity endemic to the United States without rampant civil war and genocide. America is unique among nations in its tolerance for and acceptance of diversity. And the source of that tolerance is the binding force of the universal appeal of access to personal opportunity.
If you noticed that I left Muslims out of the above montage of Americans, you're right. It was deliberate. Islam is totally incompatible with Americanism. Americanism recognizes that freedom of opportunity is possible only through freedom of choice. To Islam, free choice is anathema.
Can you imagine a legal system so restrictive of personal choice that it prohibits the use of toilet paper? Sharia law is so minutely controlling that it specifies the religiously acceptable ways for a Muslim to cleanse himself after defecating. Water is preferred, but if no water is available, the believer may use his left hand – or a rock. (How you wipe your ass with a rock I don't know, but presumedly Muslims do.)
With the exception of Muslims, however, America is one thing – a cohesive conglomerate held together by the common goal of self-improvement. That is the magic of America – cohesiveness through the promise of opportunity. Our enemies are well aware of that core strength of the American miracle – which is why they try so desperately to destroy it by turning Americans against each other with grotesque exaggerations of our inconsequential differences.
As Americans – as the keepers of the flame of personal liberty and opportunity – it is incumbent on us not only to ignore the divisive attacks of our enemies, but to refute them – by finding ways we can work together.
If you're Black, forget Al Sharpton's White supremacy shtick. Learn to do something you can sell and join the mainstream American rat race culture along with the rest of us.
If you're White, reach out to Blacks and the poor and help them get in the game – not because of any obligation of guilt for being White, but from a sincere desire to better integrate the whole of America into the American dream.
We're all in the same boat, and we all have the same destination. Let's pull together, and not – as our enemies urge us – against each other.
