How can one out of three Americans actually believe that the system responsible for the starvation subsistence of North Korea is superior to the system that allows 5% of the world's population to produce 25% of the world's wealth and own half the world's automobiles? Ignorance is the only conceivable answer. But ignorance alone would seem – in the most highly educated country in the world – to be an insufficient explanation. It must be assisted ignorance.
As the chart below shows, half of Democrats believe Socialism is preferable to Capitalism, while only 1 in 10 Republicans share that delusion. This would seem to indicate that the problem is ignorance exploited by propaganda.
The first intellectual casualty under government "education" is always history, because it is obvious to any historically cognizant individual that Socialism doesn't, has never, and can't possibly work. It didn't work in Plymouth Massachusetts in 1620, it didn't work in New Harmony Indiana in 1825, and it didn't work in Detroit Michigan in 1965. It can't work because it's counter to human nature.
Humans are not arts. We're not even gregarious animals. We are raving, contentious individualists held together only by the promise of mutual security. Our societies are constantly beset by conflict and crime. We invent games, from spelling bees to chess, to demonstrate our superiority over our fellows. Humans have only minimal concern for their fellows, and to expect them to live altruistically is simply stupid.
Why then is the government, who must surely be aware of the innate human resistance to Socialism, forcing it on the American public? The answer is the same as the reason Mao Tse Tung and Castro introduced it to China and to Cuba. Because Democrats, like Vladimir Lenin and all subsequent Socialists, realize that Socialism can only exist with rigid government control of every aspect of the society.
Socialism is a red herring. It's objective is not, and never was, the improvement of the human condition. That's just an elaborate lie to cover up the true objective – the extension of government power.
If we are to salvage the American dream and the American miracle, we have a massive re-education project before us. And according to YouGov, we're falling behind.
