While it's tempting to blame TV and texting and video games and social media for this situation, technology is only a tool. And, like any tool, it can be misused. It's not the gun that kills people; it's the man who uses the gun to act out his fantasies. It's not social media that spreads hatred and misinformation; it's the people who use social media to spread their hateful and misinformed fantasies.
The problem is not the implement, it's the people who are misusing the implement. And the problem with the people who are misusing the implement is their disconnect from reality. The solution is not to remove the instrument, but to teach those who are misusing it how to connect with reality.
So how do you teach a population of dreamers and idealists to think rationally? you start at the beginning. We've got to overhaul our entire educational system from Kindergarten to graduate school to concentrate on practical subjects like math and history and civics. And we've got to eliminate indoctrination in impracticable social theories and rules for civil disobedience and unquestioning subservience to the Fascist state.
One has only to compare the bounteous affluence of Capitalistic South Koreans to the dismal poverty of Socialistic North Koreans to recognize that Socialism simply does not work. Yet, we continue to push the failed religion of collectivism on our school children. Enough already! We've got to stand up to the Socialists and demand that out children are taught the truth – that Capitalism is the greatest thing that has ever happened to mankind and that it is responsible for all the wealth and global influence the United States used to enjoy – and can enjoy again.
If you teach college students Saul Alinsky, you should not be surprised when you end up with Hillary Clintons. Teaching young people rebellion against authority will naturally result in adults who have no respect for authority, have only contempt for the law, and are totally devoid of any emotion other than greed. Hillary Clinton may have had a genetic proclivity for those characteristics, but indoctrination in Rules For Radicals at Wellesley certainly did nothing to guide her onto the path of rationalism.
And we must get rid of Common Core, a transparent attempt to brainwash our kids into accepting Fascist fiats without question. Fortunately, my home State of Texas (along with Alaska, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Virginia) had the foresight to refuse to subject their school children to the Fascist indoctrination of Common Core. And other States such as Indiana, Oklahoma, and Louisiana have dropped out, but the majority of States in the Union are still being subjected to federal Fascist indoctrination in their grade schools.
But most importantly, we've got to teach our kids and our college students and our adults the basics of the American republic – starting with the Constitution. Civics is no longer taught in our schools, and the result is a generation of Americans who don't identify as Americans.
And that lack of identity can be fatal.
